Rules of Doubles Curling

1.     Each team shall have 2 players.
2.     The scoring is the same a regular curling.
3.     Each game will consist of 8 ends.
4.     Each team shall deliver 5 (five) stones per end. The player delivering the team’s first stone of the end must also deliver the last stone of that end. The other team member shall deliver their team’s second, third and fourth stones for that end. The player delivering the first stone can change from end to end. The delivery rotation is determined by the team at the start of each end.
5.     No stone, including those in the house, can be removed from play prior to the delivery of the fourth stone of an end. If there is a violation, the delivered stone shall be removed from play, and any displaced stone(s) shall be replaced to their original position by the non-offending team. It is the fourth delivered stone of each end that is allowed to remove any stone from play.
6.     Prior to the start of every end, one team shall place their team’s stationary stone and their opponent’s stationary stone, in either position A or B.
“A” – stone bisecting the centre line, midway between the hog line and the front of  the house; or
“B” – stone on the back half of the button, bisecting the centre line and touching the tee line.
Ice conditions will determine the distance of rock “A” from the top of the house depending on the amount of curl. This distance will then remain the same for the remainder of the game. Closer to the house for more curl further away for less curl.
7.     The team having the decision on the placement of the stationary stones in the first end shall be determined by a coin toss at the start of the game. Following the first end, the team that lost the end will have the decision on the placement for the next end. If an end is blanked, the team that did not deliver the last stone in that end shall have the decision on placement in the next end.
8.     The team whose stationary stone is placed in position “A” in front of the house shall deliver first in that end, and the team whose stationary stone is placed in the house “B” shall deliver the second stone of that end.
9.     Sweeping: One player delivers the stone and the other player must be positioned inside the hog line, and on the ice surface of the playing end, while the team is in the process of delivery. After delivery, either or both players may sweep the stone. This applies during all shots.
